Amerigo Gazaway's Music Featured On iPad Commercial (Video)

Tennessee-based producer and mash-up master, Amerigo Gazaway, has faced an incredible amount of resistance from copyright owners regarding his ability to freely distribute his recent albums. For the most part, these albums contain samples, snippets and sometimes very large portions of music recorded by popular artists such as Mos Def, Marvin Gaye, De La Soul, James Brown, etc. Nearly all of his projects have faced some sort of "cease and desist" letter. However, just recently, Apple selected one of his many songs to be used in a new iPad commercial, making this the first time that one of his remix singles has been legitimately embraced and officially released in collaboration with the owners of the original music. It is certainly a step forward for Amerigo.

Be sure to download the single, which is a Mos Def and Marvin Gaye mash-up, on iTunes. Also, be sure to hear Amerigo speak on the subject of copyright issues and his music on episode #9 of the Gettin' Up On Sunday podcast.
