Producer/emcee, Jonwayne, has just released his sophomore LP, Cassette On Vinyl, with the backing of LA-based indie label, Stones Throw Records. The project comes after a trilogy of mixtapes titled, Cassette (pt. 1, 2, 3), which featured, on the front cover, a pack of cigarettes with the Philip Morris logo. This set of mixtapes became popular enough that the cigaret company actually sent out a cease and desist for the misuse of their brand. Regardless, the newly-released 9-track LP is as cohesive as any good album should be and maintains a lo-fi quality without sounding pretentious or forced. Wayne is especially outstanding in songs like Gross, Cool Runnings and Passing Fancies. Preview and purchase Casette On Vinyl via iTunes.
