Last week, Mississippi-based emcee, 7evenThrirty, unleashed a haunting new single titled, Hook Heavy, featuring Sean Price. Today, he releases The Problem, which is the entire album produced by veteran beatsmith Gensu Dean. The LP's production explores experimental grounds while still maintaining a boom bap feel. This dynamic combination is heard in songs like Russian Revolver and Foot On The Ground, which contain sounds that pull away from the normal, 4/4 at 90bpm instrumentals that are often heard in hip hop music. Of course, The Problem isn't without its lyrical stand-outs. 7even displays his storytelling ability in Making Of A Vigilante: a song in which he describes the progression of an innocent rape victim turned vengeful murderer.
