Freddie Gibbs & Madlib "Piñata" (LP)

The wait is over! ... for those of you who were waiting. I say this because I personally forgot that this album was coming out today. It seems like the Pinata promotion team didn't quite go on a frenzy. Although, it could just be the fact that I've been out of the "hip hop loop" for a few weeks.

Regardless, the album is fully produced by the legendary Madlib. That should be enough to spark curiosity in any die-hard independent hip hop enthusiast. Of course, Freddie Gibbs handles the rhymes on this one. You gotta love the cohesiveness of these kinds of albums. One emcee and one producer. It just gives the entire project a sense of integrity as opposed to albums that rely on a bunch of different beats from a bunch of different beatmakers. Nonetheless, the album does feature some other voices including that of Mac Miller, Earl Sweatshirt, Raekwon, and Ab-Soul.

Preview and purchase Piñata on iTunes or get it on Vinyl.
